Social Ministries

An integral part of the Christian life is Jesus’ call to serve our neighbors near and far. It is also true that so often when we serve, we end up receiving far more than we give.

At First Lutheran, our Social Ministry Committee is charged with connecting us with opportunities to serve. If you’d like more information about one of these opportunities, please contact the church office; if you don’t see what you’re looking for, let us know as well!

Some examples of opportunities to serve are:

Meal on Wheels delivers meals for our community members who have difficulty shopping and preparing meals. Our congregation leads this twice per year.

Loaves and Fishes (Esther’s Kitchen) provides several free meals throughout the week. We cook and serve the meal. It’s a fun place to meet people and join them for a meal.

Our Angel Tree is an annual Christmas fundraiser, benefitting our missionary overseas. In exchange for a monetary donation, you receive an angel ornament.

The Banquet is in Sioux Falls, SD. Our congregation helps once a year by preparing and serving the food and cleaning up for approximately 400 guests who are low-income or no-income families.

Other services include ringing bells for the Salvation Army during the Christmas season, the Crop Walk, Ruby’s Pantry, and many other community projects.

We’d love to connect you with any of these opportunities, and to hear your ideas, as well!
